ES Windows Window Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
ES Windows window installation in Fort Worth typically runs $55 to $120 per window when you already have the replacement part in hand, and $180 to $400 per window if the window itself needs to be replaced outright. We stock ES Windows-compatible rollers, balances, locks, and weatherstripping on our trucks, so most repairs are done in a single visit. Most Fort Worth owners discover a part has failed when the window suddenly won’t stay up, grinds when it moves, or lets a draft through that wasn’t there last winter.
We’re an independent service provider, not a factory arm of ES Windows. That means we match parts by model number and glass package, not by brand loyalty. Sean Mackey has been sorting through ES Windows hardware long enough to know that a 7000-series balance isn’t going to work in a 6000-series frame, even when the measurements look close. Get the numbers right up front, and the install takes care of itself.
Which ES Windows Models This Applies To
ES Windows makes three main residential lines you’ll see in Fort Worth homes: the 6000 series (single-hung and horizontal slider, builder-grade but solid), the 7000 series (heavier frames, better U-factors, often specified on newer Tarrant County construction), and the 9000 impact-rated series (built for wind-borne debris zones). Each line uses different balance spring tensions and roller wheel profiles, so the part matching has to be exact.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people run into: a 6000-series roller from 2014 is not the same as a 6000-series roller from 2021. ES Windows changed the axle diameter on some slider hardware around 2018. If you’re pulling a part number, look at the sticker on the sash edge, not the one on the frame. The frame sticker often carries a generic series code, while the sash sticker has the specific hardware revision.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for ES Windows specifically, we recommend OEM rollers and locks. The aftermarket equivalents for balances are usually fine, but ES’s roller housings have a slightly different track groove than generic imports, and aftermarket rollers tend to chatter within a season. We’ll quote both options when they exist and tell you honestly which one we’d put in our own house.
Signs Your ES Windows Window Installation Is Failing
- The sash won’t stay up. Your balance springs have lost tension or snapped. ES Windows uses a spiral balance system on most 6000 and 7000 series windows, and Texas heat accelerates the metal fatigue. The window will suddenly drop when you let go.
- You hear grinding or feel bumps when sliding. The roller wheels have flattened or the bearings are full of dust. Fort Worth’s fine clay soil works into the track and destroys rollers faster than coastal humidity does.
- A draft around the sash edges. The weatherstripping has compressed or torn. ES’s pile weatherstripping is effective but has a real-world lifespan of seven to ten years in direct sun, and Fort Worth gets plenty of that.
- The lock doesn’t engage fully. The keeper has shifted, the sash is out of square, or the lock’s internal cam has worn. A lock that doesn’t seat isn’t just letting air through; it’s also a security gap.
- Condensation between the glass panes. The insulating glass unit seal has failed. This isn’t a hardware part, but it’s the single most common reason Fort Worth homeowners end up replacing an ES window rather than repairing it.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what ES Windows part replacement costs in Fort Worth when you work with us, parts and labor together:
- Roller wheel replacement: $55 – $110 per window, depending on sash weight and access
- Balance spring replacement (pair): $90 – $180 per window
- Lock and keeper replacement: $65 – $140 per window
- Weatherstripping replacement (sash perimeter): $75 – $160 per window
- Full window replacement (new ES or equivalent, installed): $180 – $400 per opening for standard sizes; more for impact-rated 9000 series
Every job gets a written price before we start. No “we’ll see once we get in there” adjustments. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the parts and labor on the repair for a full year, in writing. If something fails in that window, we come back and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do: identify the model series, take a photo of the sash sticker, clean out the track, and check whether the screws on the keeper are loose. Ten minutes with a screwdriver on a loose keeper fixes a surprising number of “broken” locks.
What you should not do: open the sash to pull a tensioned spiral balance. Those springs are wound under enough pressure that a slip will take a chunk out of your hand or your wall. Removing and reinstalling ES roller assemblies without the right block-out technique can also bow the frame. For anything tensioned or load-bearing, call a pro. We’ll be at (682) 354-9300.
FAQs
In Fort Worth’s heat and direct sun, expect rollers to last 8 to 12 years, balances 10 to 15, and weatherstripping 7 to 10. Windows on south-facing walls degrade faster than north-facing ones. Call (682) 354-9300 if yours are failing early.
Rollers, balances, locks, and weatherstripping are generally replacement items. We’ll tell you if the old part is repairable, but in most cases replacing it costs less than forcing a worn part back into service. Call (682) 354-9300 for an evaluation.
Most roller, balance, or lock replacements take 30 to 60 minutes per window, depending on access and how stubborn the frame is. We give you a live arrival time so you’re not waiting through a four-hour window. Call (682) 354-9300 to book.
Yes. We keep common ES Windows rollers, balances, locks, and weatherstripping stocked for the 6000, 7000, and 9000 series, along with parts for PGT, CGI, and CWS. If we don’t have your exact revision on the truck, we can have it in a few days. Call (682) 354-9300 to confirm availability.
